Who We Are and What We Believe

St. Ladislas is a place where faith comes alive — through community, prayer, and service. We are a parish that values connection: between individuals, families, and most importantly, with Christ. Whether you are joining us for Sunday Mass, seeking the Sacraments, or simply looking for a place to belong, you’ll find a place here.

Our Mission Statement

We are a welcoming Roman Catholic community that deepens our personal relationship with Jesus Christ by worshipping together, reaching out to others, and building up the Kingdom of God as intentional disciples.

Rooted in Faith

St. Ladislas Parish, the first church for Slovak Catholics in Cleveland, dates back to 1885 when they began holding services at St. Joseph’s Church on Woodland Avenue. In 1889, the parish bought property near East 92nd Street and Holton Avenue. The church was consecrated in December of that year.

A fire in August 1970 destroyed the church building. A decision was then made to relocate. Our current church was established August 15, 1973.

We now celebrate over 50 years in Westlake. This milestone reflects the unwavering faith, commitment, and unity of our faith community. As we look back with gratitude, we also look forward with anticipation for the blessings and opportunities ahead.

The Church is the Body of Christ. Through the Spirit and his action in the sacraments, above all the Eucharist, Christ, who once was dead and is now risen, establishes the community of believers as his own Body. — CCC 805
